A spool pad-retainer can guide and retain a stripper plate. It can
also pre-load a die spring. In operation, this example shows the die spring compressed
between the die shoe and the stripper plate providing a pre-loaded spring pressure to the
pad. When the stripper plate is forced upward, the spring is further compressed while the
spool guides the stripper. The jam-nut can be tightened against the socket-head cap-screw
to prevent both the nut and the screw from being loosened by shock and vibration. The
knurled gripper (or an optional dowel pin) prevents the spool from rotating during
installation. |
