| Lamina-bronze V-gibs in a mold can provide low friction surfaces for guiding
the slide's movements. V-Gibs can provide greater slide accuracy because the clearance
between slide and gibs can be adjusted by shimming the gibs inward toward the slide. In
operation, the angle-pin and heel-block push the slide to the left to close the molding
cavity when the mold is closed. When the mold is opened, the angle-pin pulls the slide
away from the molded part enabling part ejection. Grease fittings or other lubrication
means should be provided for these V-gibs. The slide can be made of 4140 steel, P20 steel,
or other materials. |
