Enclosing a Die Spring - Pulling
pulling

A spring guard can be used to enclose a die spring. In operation, this example shows that a die spring can be fully enclosed by the guard and end-plate. This can improve safety because pinch-points can be eliminated. Reliability can be improved because the die spring can be protected from foreign materials. The cage can also provide guidance and support to decrease die spring buckling during compression. Since the die spring’s diameter can expand during compression, it may be necessary to select a larger spring guard.

This can improve safety because pinch-points can be eliminated. Reliability can be improved because the die spring can be protected from foreign materials. The cage can also provide guidance and support to decrease die spring buckling during compression. A support plate is required because the die spring can exert high pressure on the spring guard. Since the die spring’s diameter can expand during compression, it may be necessary to select a larger spring guard.
